The Voice Technologies and Systems Lab (VTS), part of IBM Research organization, has been founded in 1995 at IBM Czech Republic, Prague. The talk will give an overview of selected speech and multi-modal assets that are part of IBM R&D portfolio and how they solve customer requirements. The prototypes illustrated by several video demonstrations will outline concepts and solutions stemming from the VTS lab‘s participation in international projects, Global Community Initiatives, as well as advanced projects focused on conversational interfaces.

Problematika interakce mezi člověkem se speciálními potřebami a počítačem si žádá intenzivní mezioborovou spolupráci. Tento příspěvek reflektuje spolupráci mezi designéry uživatelských rozhraní a kognitivními psychology při návrhu mobilního systému pro navigaci nevidomých. V první části přednášky bude představen iterativní proces vývoje navigačního systému, který probíhal v úzké spolupráci s nevidomými. Druhá část této přednášky čerpá z oblasti kognitivní a environmentální psychologie a zabývá se zvláštnostmi kognitivních funkcí a strategií uplatněných v procesu prostorové navigace nevidomých. Popisuje, jak jsou tyto poznatky využity při návrhu navigačního systému a za pomoci empirického výzkumu dále rozvíjeny.
